I wonder how many people are unaware that things like this - both the schoolyard rumors, and the handful of real secrets and glitches that resembled those elaborate rumors - are, like, part of the core DNA of videogame creepypastas and post-creepypasta (such as "this game I found" unfiction like Petscop, games with creepypasta inspired secrets like Undertale... the initial fan discovery of Snowgrave Route in Deltarune itself reads so much like what it's modeled after).
The way that the Mew Trick wasn't believed to be real because of reasons like "why would button timing be important when nothing else in the game works like that"...
